Hi everyone! Really hope you’re doing ok. For some of us, there’s a strange mixture this week of feeling relieved at the chance to take a break from home schooling for Half Term, but a bit puzzled at what to do with the time off! Whatever you are doing, if you do get the opportunity (as we were encouraged last night by the excellent Andy Percey) do try to find space to stop and breathe, and make the time to rest in this strange rhythm of life we find ourselves in right now.
As part of that rhythm, is the need to unplug from other duties and demands to be simply be in God’s presence and drink deeply on his love, grace and wisdom. And so I just wanted to take a moment to let you know about plans for this coming weekend!
Gathering to Pray for Wales
Sunday Evening – 7pm on zoom
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Last month, on the 19th of January, the regional ministry team for SWBA (South Wales Baptist Association) called us together to pray for Wales – and there were over 90 people there from all over Wales! It was so exciting to see a real hunger for God’s people to come together and pray like this.
Rev. Mark Fairweather-Tall led the evening which involved worship songs (from our very own virtual worship band!), interviews with teachers, doctors and chaplains, as well as the chance to hear more about Renew:Welling – these made the prayer times feel very personal and informed. It was really, really great to be there.
Since then, there have been calls for more opportunities like this to gather and pray together – and this coming Sunday evening (7pm, 21st February) is our next opportunity.
It’s going to be on zoom – (https://zoom.us/j/
As well as pre-prepared times of sharing and prayer, there will be the opportunity to pray in breakout rooms again – although there is no pressure on anyone to have to pray out loud during these times. If you are uncomfortable, zoom allows you to turn off your camera and simply be present to share in the prayers of others, without feeling like it’s “your turn” to have to say something if you don’t feel comfortable or able to for whatever reason.
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
