Korean Prayer Mission Thanks
We wanted to say a huge thank you to Cathy Stroemer for all her hard work and effort in organising everything for the Korean team who were with us last week. Thanks also to everyone who volunteered to help in any way. It was a wonderful week of fellowship with each other and encounter with God.
Summer Young Peoples' Groups-Can you Help?
Over the summer, the young peoples' groups on a Sunday Morning will be shutting down, to give the amazing teams running them a bit of a break.
In their place, as an option for the young people on a Sunday morning, the church lounge will be set up with some activities- a Bible video, colouring in, some games, Lego etc.
We need some people to watch over the sessions, and so are appealing for some volunteers. It will be to cover the 4 Sundays in August and you would need a current church DBS to volunteer.
Dates needed: August 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th.
Help with Bethel Tots
We have also had a request from the parents that attend, to continue running Bethel Tots during the summer holidays, We are looking for people to be available to help out at one or two sessions. They are on a Wednesday between 1 and 2:30. There are some lovely families that come along and a lot of it is relationship building with the parents and some play with the young ones. Please let Tim know if you can help.
Prayer Times
There are a couple of opportunities each week to join with others for a time of prayer. Monday Evening at 7pm and/or Saturday morning at 10am both in the lounge. It would be great if you could join us.
Crafty Chatters
Crafty Chatters meets on the first Friday of every month at the new time of 6pm - 9pm in room 5 in the church hall (please note the venue change). All are welcome to come for as long or short a time as you can and if you are dropping children / youth to any of the clubs why not drop in for a tea or coffee and a chat whilst you wait. Please note that there will be no meetings in August.
Coffee Mornings and Service
The coffee mornings take place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. A lovely time to meet together to chat and share in fellowship.
Family News
Jill Watkins will be 90 on the 30th July. Liz Parker will take a card and some flowers to her on behalf of us here at Bethel. We pass on our huge congratulations to Jill on this momentous occasion!
We are delighted to say that Ewan Chadwell is getting married, to Bethan, at Citizen Church on Woodville Road in Cathays, on Friday 1st August. Anyone who remembers Ewan from his time growing up with us here at Bethel would be welcome to join them for the ceremony, 12:30 for 1pm. The ceremony will be followed by coffee and cake outside the church. Please note that their reception (invitation only) takes place in the church at 15:30.
We have to pass on the news that Anne Holdham peacefully passed away on June 28th. Please remember her family in your prayers at this sad time. The funeral service is taking place at Thornhill Crematorium on Monday, 28 July at 2:30 pm.
After the service, there will be a gathering for afternoon tea at the Manor Parc Hotel.

Giving
As a Baptist church, Bethel is entirely self-funded by the giving of its members and those who attend regularly. If you’d like to support our ministry and mission in an ongoing way – we can do so either by placing donations in the offering box on the Bible shelves near the sound desk, pay by contactless giving on the phone there, or by bank transfers.
Please see the following information about the way the church is funded. Many thanks. There are also QR codes in various places in the Church Lounge and Church hall for you to scan to support the ministry and mission of the church if you so wish.

Easy Fundraising
Easy Fundraising is a simple way to support Bethel without it costing you anything. It’s a way of raising money for the church when you shop online, either using your computer or a smartphone. You can find more information at
www.easyfundraising.org.uk. You’ll need to sign up (it’s free) and then either install an app for your phone or there’s a plugin for your web browser. The website guides you through the simple steps to do this. It will also ask you to ‘Find a cause’, so if you look for Bethel Baptist we’re the only one on there at the moment. .

You can do as much or as little as you like! If you would like to volunteer or find out more of what is involved, please let Lorraine in the office know. Many thanks.

City Hospice’s Forever Flowers campaign
This is returning to Cardiff Castle this summer. To mark the campaign’s fifth year, we’re introducing the Welsh national flower, the daffodil, as this year’s Forever Flower. It’s a powerful symbol of hope, resilience, and new beginnings. From Saturday 2 to Sunday 10 August, the castle grounds will be transformed into a stunning display of more than a thousand handcrafted metal daffodils, each one dedicated in memory of a loved one. Forever Flowers is for everyone. Whether or not someone has been directly supported by City Hospice, the campaign offers a chance to reflect, remember, and celebrate lives in a meaningful way.
To find out more or dedicate a flower, please visit: www.cityhospice.org.uk/forever-flowers-2025
