The Power of An Hour
Eight Reasons to Book In to the God of Breakthrough Prayer Room

Prayer is something we can do anywhere — on a walk, in the car, over the washing‑up, or in the warmth of our favourite armchair.
And those moments matter.
Deeply.
Of course they do.
But there’s something uniquely powerful about stepping into a set‑apart space, at a set‑apart time, with a set‑apart purpose.
That’s what a prayer room gives us.
A prayer room interrupts the normal flow of life.
It pulls us out of autopilot.
It creates a kind of prayer we rarely experience at home — prayer that is unhurried, undistracted, unaccidental, and unalone.
It’s a space where we meet God not by chance, but by choice.
And that’s why this weekend’s 24-7 Prayer Room (Friday 13th–Saturday 14th) matters so much.
It’s not just another event.
It’s an invitation to step into a rhythm Jesus Himself practiced, the early church depended on, and Scripture continually calls us toward.
If you're still unsure or undecided, here are eight reasons why booking in for an hour could be one of the most significant things you do this weekend.
1. Booking In Turns Intention Into Encounter
“Pray… with all kinds of prayers” (Ephesians 6:18)
Most of us intend to pray more, but life rarely slows down on its own.
Booking an hour creates a different “kind” of prayer — intentional, focused, guided, and expectant.
It’s where desire becomes devotion, and devotion becomes encounter.
2. It Gives You a Solitary Place Like Jesus Had
“Jesus… went off to a solitary place, where He prayed” (Mark 1:35)
Jesus didn’t stumble into prayer; He sought it out.
He didn't chance upon it, He chose to carve it out.
The prayer room becomes our modern solitary place — a chosen hour, a chosen space, a chosen stillness.
Booking in is one way we follow His rhythm of stepping away to be with the Father.
3. It Creates a Door‑Closing Moment of Undistracted Presence
“Go into your room, close the door and pray…” (Matthew 6:6)
A prayer room is literally a door you close on hurry, noise, and notifications, in order to open the door to His presence!
It’s a space where you can breathe, listen, and be fully present with God.
No multitasking.
No half‑attention.
Just you and Him.
The truth is that it's a quiet act of rebellion.
Rebellion against busyness.
Rebellion against distraction.
Rebellion against self-reliance and self-importance.
Rebellion against doubts and lies.
When you book your place - you're joining the rebellion.
4. Your Hour Joins a Chain of Devotion
“They all joined together constantly in prayer” (Acts 1:14)
When you book in, you’re not praying alone.
You’re stepping into a chain of prayer that stretches across the whole 48 hours.
Your hour strengthens the whole church, not just your own soul.
It’s unity expressed in quiet, faithful devotion.
Aside from the obvious encouragement to the team that have prayerfully and practically prepared the space, spiritually it is more significant than we could ever realise.
Prayer is not the warm-up to other, more important events - is place of empowerment.
Isaiah 40:31 tells us that prayer equals power - the more prayer, the more power.
5. It Gives Your Burdens Somewhere to Go
“Cast all your anxiety on Him…” (1 Peter 5:7)
Each of us are carrying much more than we realise.
A booked hour gives you permission to stop, breathe, and hand things over.
The prayer room becomes a place where the weight you’ve been carrying finally has somewhere to land — and crucially, Someone to hold it.
6. It Makes Stillness Possible in a World That Won’t Slow Down
“Be still, and know…” (Psalm 46:10)
Stillness rarely happens by accident.
Booking an hour creates that stillness, and more importantly - that knowing - that the Psalm invites.
A pause long enough for your soul to catch up and for God’s voice to be heard again.
It’s a gift you give yourself, and a gift God delights to fill.
7. It Builds Spiritual Muscle Memory
“Watch and pray…” (Matt 26:41)
Most of us live ignorant and insulated to the reality that we are living in a fierce spiritual battleground.
And the stakes are huge.
Eternally huge.
Prayer builds strength.
A healthy rhythm of prayer forms resilience.
And as part of that, a prayer room becomes a training ground for alertness, attentiveness, and spiritual strength.
Booking in is a quiet act of resistance against distraction and drift — a way of saying, “Lord, keep me awake to You.”
8. It Helps Bethel Become What God Says His Church Is
“My house will be called a house of prayer…” (Isaiah 56:7)
When we book in, we’re not just filling a rota — we’re living into our identity.
A praying church is a steady church, a trusting church, a hopeful church, a Spirit‑led church.
Your hour helps shape the culture we long for at Bethel: a people who seek God first and trust Him for breakthrough.
And finally...
This isn’t about filling slots.
It’s about filling the house with prayer, filling our hunger with passion, and our hearts with His presence!
It’s about creating space for God to move — in us, in our church, and in our city.
It's about crying out to God to do what only He can do, and bring the breakthrough we so desperately need to see.
If you haven’t booked in yet, we’d love you to join us for an hour between Friday 13th and Saturday 14th.
Your hour matters.
Your prayer matters because your breakthrough matters,
Your presence matters because you matter.
And who knows what God is about to do, what He might be planning to do in the quiet place.
If you are able to come, don't miss it.
