Newsheet - 26th July 2026
Thank yous!
Hi everyone — a quick message from me (Jon!). A few of us have been taking on extra roles while Lorraine has been on holiday this summer, and I wanted to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers who have stepped up so generously. You’ve been brilliant.
It’s also reminded us just how much Lorraine quietly carries behind the scenes — so a second heartfelt thank you goes to her for the care, thoughtfulness and steady commitment she brings to her role.
One of the tasks we’ve been covering is posting this newsheet to any housebound members who request a physical copy. It’s a simple way of staying connected, and it helps us pray together for the people and projects that need our support. Thank you to everyone who prays regularly — we’ll never fully know, this side of eternity, what those prayers are accomplishing in the purposes of God and the mission of the church.
And just a reminder: this isn’t the only way to stay connected. If we can pray for you, or if you’d appreciate a call, a visit, or communion together, please do give me a ring or send a text — I’d love to come and see you!
Thank you again for all the love, support, prayers and encouragement you continue to give!
Every blessing,
Jon

Womens' Walking Group
The Walkie Talkies are a group of women who meet once or twice a month for short, local walks and a chat. Come and join us if you'd like some fresh air and friendship, and feel free to invite your friends! We tend to walk for about an hour, but you can join for as little or as much as you like - no fitness level required, some of us are slow walkers! If you'd like to join the WhatsApp group, just chat to Sarah Hodges or Esme Farewell.
Crafty Chatters
Crafty Chatters meets on the first Friday of every month from 6pm - 9pm in room 5 in the church hall. All are welcome to come for as long or short a time as you can and if you are dropping children / youth to any of the clubs why not drop in for a tea or coffee and a chat whilst you wait.
Coffee Mornings and Midweek Service
The coffee mornings take place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11am in the Church Lounge. A lovely time to meet together to chat and share in fellowship. The midweek services take place on the 4th Tuesday of the month in the Church. The next Coffee morning is on the 14th July. Please note that the midweek services are taking a break for July and August.

Giving
As a Baptist church, Bethel is entirely self-funded by the giving of its members and those who attend regularly. If you’d like to support our ministry and mission in an ongoing way – we can do so either by placing donations in the offering box on the Bible shelves near the sound desk, pay by contactless giving on the phone there, or by bank transfers. Please see the following information about the way the church is funded. Many thanks. There are also QR codes in various places in the Church Lounge and Church hall for you to scan to support the ministry and mission of the church if you so wish.

Easy Fundraising
Easy Fundraising is a simple way to support Bethel without it costing you anything. It’s a way of raising money for the church when you shop online, either using your computer or a smartphone. You can find more information at www.easyfundraising.org.uk. You’ll need to sign up (it’s free) and then either install an app for your phone or there’s a plugin for your web browser. The website guides you through the simple steps to do this. It will also ask you to ‘Find a cause’, so if you look for Bethel Baptist we’re the only one on there at the moment.
When supporters you’ve helped sign up raise £5, your cause will receive a bonus £5*
