Christmas at Bethel 2027!

As we approach the Advent and Christmas season, there are so many opportunities to gather, worship, celebrate, laugh, reflect and simply enjoy being together as God's family. Whether it's wreath making, carol singing, our Christmas production, prayerful reflection, or welcoming new believers through baptism, we would love you to be part of as much as you can.

When the shepherds heard the angels' announcement, they said to one another:

"Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about!"

(Luke 2:15)

That same invitation still stands! God still calls people to come and see, come and hear, come and worship, and come and rejoice. We hope the events listed below will provide opportunities to do just that!

- Family Carols!

x01
We kick off the Advent season in style with a Bethel:Kids Sunday morning takeover! For the past couple of years, we've enjoyed a morning of readings, carols, reflections and prayers from different families in Bethel, and we're doing the same this year! Don't miss it!

- Community Panto!

x02
Each Christmas, Jon and Tim write and perform a two-man show to which all the local junior schools are invited! On the final day of the two-week run, they stage a free community pantomime. This year, we journey with Tim-Lad and Long Jon Silver in search of true treasure. Expect fun, laughter and a story to make you think...

- Complin at Christmas

x03
Complin services are traditionally the final services of the day and provide space for quiet reflection and prayer. Our Christmas Complin journey this year is called Listening for the Heartbeat of God and will help us creatively prepare to celebrate the birth of our wonderful Saviour.

- Christmas Wreath Making

x08
There is still  time to book your place at the Wreath Making on Saturday 12th December. This is a great opportunity to invite friends / family to.
Spaces available at either 1-3pm or 3.30-5.30pm just £15 per wreath including materials and refreshments.
Please let Sue Rock or Ruth Evans know if you would like to come along.

- Carols by Candlelight

x04
The last Sunday evening before Christmas is always our Carols by Candlelight service. Each year, we welcome the community to join us in celebrating Jesus with classic Christmas carols and a contemporary twist. This year we'll be asking: Who is that within the hay? The Masked Manger...

The service will be followed by non-alcoholic mulled wine and mince pies. Everyone is welcome!

- Christmas Morning!

x05
It wouldn't feel right not to gather as a family on Christmas morning and celebrate the big day together! Join us at 10:30am for a short, family-friendly service, and don't forget to bring along your favourite present too!

- New Years Eve

x06
At 11:00pm on New Year's Eve, we're invited to gather for a service of praise, worship and dedication! What better way to end the year than in the presence of God?

- Baptism Service!

x07
...and what better way to start the New Year than with a baptism service! Two people are currently planning to go through the waters of baptism on Sunday 3rd January next year. If you've not yet been baptised and would like to know more, please do speak to Jon!

xx

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

Where and When

The church is open for activities throughout the week but if you are just seeking us out it is likely that you will want to come and be a part of our Sunday worship which is core to what we are about.
We meet in the main church building (details here) at 10:30 each week. See our calendar to find out plans for the next few weeks.

Accessibility

There is wheelchair access and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets in the main foyer and church lounge.

Our Sunday Services

Sunday morning services are structured but informal. They include a mix of both contemporary and traditional worship songs and hymns, prayers, readings from the Bible and a sermon that unpacks this. Occasionally we will also have specific updates about ways that God has been working through and in people and activities. Once a month we celebrate communion as part of the service. The last Sunday of the month is usually an Altogether Service when all ages are all together in one place for a more relaxed and activity based time of worship.

We aim to finish at about 11.45 to Midday when we serve free tea, coffee and cold drinks. This is a great opportunity to get to meet people.

Sunday Evening services, either in person or online, tend to be shorter and more reflective and are an opportunity to dig a little deeper into our relationship with God.

What about the children and youth?

We have a great programme for children of all ages, for more information about what happens please visit our Children and Youth page.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

It is often in smaller gatherings that we can really get to know other people. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some in the afternoon and some in the evening either in the church, in peoples’ homes or online    .
If you are interested in joining a Small Group, let us know and we can put you in touch with the small group coordinator who will be more than happy to find a group that is convenient for you and introduce you to the group leader.

Get Involved

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved with the life of our church. If you'd like to find out more, please let us know.
